| Cherry Surgical in Detroit Win | Detroit turned a good performance from starting pitcher Palmer Cherry into a 4-1 triumph over the Washington Federals at Capitol Park. By defeating Washington, the second-place Sturgeons improved to 77-57.
Cherry, a native of Springfield, Massachusetts, was dealing all game. He kept Washington hitters off-balance, while giving the Sturgeons 9 quality innings. Cherry threw 105 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5.
