The result was a win for the Cyclones, 3-2. The winning pitcher was Lucier, now 27-16. He tossed 9 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2. The last-place Federals dropped to 36-65.
Morgan Cook, who finished 3rd in the FL in batting average with .333 in 1883, had a direct impact on the outcome. Cook contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Chicago up, 3-0.
