The inspired effort of St. Louis center fielder Charlie Scheer was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-6, to the Boston Brahmins. Scheer went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Tom Hagood, who is tied for 7th in the IA in strikeouts with 186, was the winner. He's now 17-36. The loser was Ajax McFadden. Boston is in last place in the International Association with a record of 40-83.

The two teams entertained the Brahmins Grounds crowd with some good baseball.

"Was I getting worried?" said Brahmins manager . "Nope." Then he added, with a wink, "There was never a doubt in my mind."
