The Boston Brahmins outlasted Ed Shaw and the Cleveland Clippers, 8-7. Shaw was impressive in the loss. The Cleveland left fielder was 2 for 4 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Picking up the win was Ken Burns. He went 9 innings, allowing 7 runs on 14 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 1. With the win, Boston has a record of 66-59. Cleveland falls to 39-84.

An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the fifth. That's when Brahmins right fielder Jim Strouse hit a cutter from Weldon Skinner for a 2-run single. Just like that, Boston was up, 5-4.
