Barons Score Late to Win, 9-8
The New York Barons needed 10 innings to beat the Louisville Colts, 9-8, at Columbia Field. David King, for one, had a fine performance. He was 4-4 with a home run, a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The Barons sit in 6th place in the Federal League with a record of 51-74.

Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 33-year old right-handed pitcher Jack McKinley had a real shot to win the game. Louisville pitcher Sam Gilleland was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, McKinley hit a run-scoring single. The Barons had a walk-off triumph.

"It's not about individual awards," King told a New York Daily reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
