Pittsburgh Dealt 10-5 Defeat
Starting pitcher Jack McKinley pitched well enough to help the New York Barons beat the Pittsburgh Vulcans, 10-5. The winning pitcher was Ted Carson. His record now stands at 2-0. The right-hander went 9 innings, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits for the Barons. New York goes to 4-1 with the win.

Dave Claiborne had a big 2-run home run for the Barons in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New York trailing 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 29-year old right-handed pitcher George Ashe and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Barons on top, 2-1.

"It's always extra special to win at home," said McKinley.
