| Colts Solve Unions, 5-4 | Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Louisville Colts and Philadelphia Unions.
Louisville registered a win at Derby Grounds by beating the Philadelphia Unions, 5-4. Pitcher Alfred Mahone was one reason why the Colts triumphed. Mahone yielded 4 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-2.
An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Colts right fielder Turkey Carver hit a fastball from Mike McCord for a 2-run single. Just like that, Louisville was up, 4-3.
"Alfred was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Louisville manager .
The losing streak for Philadelphia has now reached 4 games.
