Grider Torches Bears for 5 Hits
The New York Titans stopped the Cleveland Bears by a score of 6-3 at Lakefront Grounds, with the lion's share of the credit going to third baseman Alonzo Grider. The 28-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Grider said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Grider did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Bears.

"Not much that I can say," offered Cleveland manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Alonzo Grider singled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.

So far this year, Grider has 4 home runs and a .316 batting average.
