Cincinnati Monarchs starter Kenneth Ranson turned in a workmanlike performance against the Toronto Provincials at Garrison Common Grounds. The Monarchs now have a mark of 78-56.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Jonathan Hawkins came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Toronto pitcher Fred Brody, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 7-6.
