| 5-2 Win for Detroit Over Pittsburgh | The Detroit Sturgeons locked up a win at Riverside Park, knocking off the Pittsburgh Vulcans, 5-2. On the mound for Detroit was left-hander Palmer Cherry. He played a major role in the triumph. Detroit has now won 5 games in a row.
The Sturgeons got a big hit from second baseman Matt McFall. Facing Pittsburgh pitcher Stanley Lamb in the bottom of the sixth, McFall pounded a run-scoring double to center. His 7th double of the season put the Sturgeons ahead, 4-2.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Cherry after the game. | | | | |
