Behind a fine performance from Spider Burchett, the Montreal Tigers knocked off the Cleveland Clippers, 7-4. Burchett went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for the Tigers. Joe Henry was the winner. He's now 5-3. The loser was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Eddie Montague. For the Clippers, the loss makes their record 7-14.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Ray Warren was at the plate when Montreal scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Tigers to go in front, 4-3.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Montreal manager .
