Vulcans Deal Federals Painful Loss
The Pittsburgh Vulcans walked off with a big win.

Stanley Lamb, who finished 4th in the IA in wins with 35 in 1884, was locked in. The left-hander led the Pittsburgh Vulcans to a 4-3 win against the Washington Federals at Vulcan Grounds. Washington is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Pittsburgh first baseman Elvin Baum, facing Ronald Langford, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Vulcans the 4-3 win.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Lamb told the Pittsburgh Gazette.
