| Win Makes Sturgeons 44-21 | The Detroit Sturgeons rode a solid performance from 25-year-old starting pitcher Palmer Cherry to a win, beating the New York Barons, 8-2, at Riverside Park. In 9 innings, Cherry surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. With the win, Detroit raised its record to 44-21.
With Detroit leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Cherry hit a 2-run single off New York hurler Jack McKinley. It was the 7th hit of the season for Cherry and put his team ahead, 4-1.
"Palmer was aggressive right out of the chute," said Detroit manager .
