Blue Caps Score Late to Upend Sturgeons, 2-1
Cleveland turned a good performance from starting pitcher Dan Hicks into a 2-1 triumph over the Detroit Sturgeons at Lakeside Grounds. By defeating Detroit, the first-place Blue Caps improved to 38-22.

In the bottom of the ninth, Marty Stephenson knew he could end it with one good swing of the bat. And he did, hitting a 2-run single off Detroit pitcher Lloyd Dehaan.

"This was a tough loss," said Detroit manager . "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
