Cherry got the win, improving to 14-10. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 9 innings. He allowed 4 runs. The Sturgeons improved to 52-32.
Had Harry Ransom not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ransom hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Sturgeons.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager .
