The Detroit Sturgeons beat the Pittsburgh Vulcans, 8-5. Detroit pitcher and Roscoe, Texas, native Bill Poole led the way. Poole, who is tied for 2nd in the FL in bases on balls with 49, went the distance for Detroit. He gave up 5 runs on 12 hits. With the win, the Sturgeons hiked their record to 52-27.

The most important at-bat for Detroit came in the top of the ninth inning, when left fielder Sam Booth stroked a first pitch fastball to center for a run-scoring single, putting Detroit up, 6-5.

"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Poole.
