The Toronto Provincials weathered a fine game by Boston shortstop Cecil Mathews to upend the Brahmins, 7-6, at Garrison Common Grounds. Mathews was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The defeat makes Boston 20-11.

Bill Lucier was the walk-off hero for Toronto. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Provincials left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It was bedlam at the end," Lucier said.
