| Cherry Thwarts Indianapolis, 5-0 | Fans at Western Grounds witnessed the Detroit Sturgeons blank the Indianapolis Westerners, 5-0, on the strength of a superb effort from starter Palmer Cherry. The Detroit left-hander allowed 4 hits in recording the shutout.
"Palmer was good today, but I don't want to focus too much on a single game," Detroit manager said. "If you're capable of playing at this level, you're capable of having a good game. The real question is if you can learn from that game and repeat it."
