Burchett Leads Tigers to 16-10 Win Over Provincials
In a high-scoring contest between Montreal and Toronto, left fielder Spider Burchett was a difference-maker. Burchett, who is tied for 4th in the IA in home runs with 3, distinguished himself in the 16-10 Montreal win. He went 4 for 6 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 6. Montreal reliever Rodney Friesen got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Lawrence Phillips was tagged with the loss. At 37-20, the Tigers are currently second in the International Association.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Daniel Gull was at the plate when Montreal scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Tigers to go in front, 11-10.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Gull said.
