Montreal beat Toronto on the strength of starting pitcher Joe Henry's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 8-3. Henry, now 17-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Montreal is now 38-20, Toronto 33-25.

Crab Shelton had a big grand slam home run for the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Montreal trailing 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Fred Brody, who is tied for 3rd in the IA in wins with 15, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 6-3.
