Will Bowling had a hand in Cincinnati defeating Boston by the score of 10-4. Bowling went 3 for 5 at the plate, scoring 3 times and driving in 3 runs. Cincinnati raised its record to 27-23 with the win.

Ed Ford had a big run-scoring triple for the Monarchs in the bottom of the first inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Ken Burns, who finished 4th in the IA in strikeouts with 137 in 1882, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 4th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Monarchs ahead, 2-0.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Ford.
