Excelsiors Outdo Brahmins in Extra Innings
The New York Excelsiors outlasted the Boston Brahmins, 8-5, in 10 innings. New York shortstop Willis Gaylord stood out with his performance. He was 3-6 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Picking up the save was Jim Kiefer, his 2nd. At 23-18, New York is in third place in the International Association.

The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Gaylord delivered big-time for New York, stroking a dramatic 2-run triple off John Killion. The game-changing hit put the Excelsiors on top, 7-5.
