| Provincials Pick Up 4-2 Road Win Over St. Louis | The Toronto Provincials picked up a win at Fuchs Park, taking down the St. Louis Pilots, 4-2. Starting pitcher Henry Clancy was a big reason why. Clancy, who finished 2nd in the IA in triples with 9 in 1882, went the distance for Toronto. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. With the win, Toronto raised its record to 32-25.
There was more than one reason the Provincials beat the Pilots, but Clancy's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
Clancy called the win a testament to his team's "grit." | | | | |
