| Stars Thrill Fans with 3-2 Win | Indianapolis pitcher Charlie James did his part in helping his team beat the Toronto Provincials, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. James, now 14-27, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Stars are now 27-39, while the Provincials fall to 34-32.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Indianapolis shortstop Dave Bowman, facing Henry Clancy, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Stars the 3-2 win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," James said.
