| Baltimore Earns 5-4 Win | The Baltimore Bannermen picked up a win at Banner Field, dropping the New York Excelsiors, 5-4. Hugh Brigand, who is tied for 5th in the IA with a 1.23 WHIP, was the difference-maker. Brigand, now 14-13, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 5, and allowing 4 runs. At 40-47, the Bannermen are currently 5th in the International Association.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Baltimore. That's when Frank Flowers, who is on pace for 84 RBI this season, hit a 2-run double off Eddie Montague to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
