| Ewart Blanks Detroit, 2-0 | The Washington Federals posted a 2-0 shutout over the Detroit Sturgeons behind a strong performance by Tom Ewart. The Federals pitcher, who finished 4th in the FL in strikeouts with 159 in 1881, held the Sturgeons to 1 hit while walking 2 and fanning 1 in the route-going win.
"It feels good to be wearing a Washington Federals uniform today," the right-hander said, following the game.
