Free Falling Clippers Lose Again
Boosted by the 3-hit performance of Jackrabbit Hoppe, who finished 5th in the IA in slugging percentage with .432 in 1885, the Baltimore Bannermen defeated the Cleveland Clippers, 6-2. Bill Silvers was the winner. Over 9 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. The winning continues for Baltimore, with the latest triumph making it 8 straight.

Tied up with the Clippers in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Bannermen got a boost from center fielder Walt Chambers. With a runner on 2nd, Chambers saw a 0-1 fastball from Paul Jackson and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Baltimore on top, 1-0.

"That's what makes it fun -- everybody's jacked up because of the way we've been winning," said Baltimore manager .
