The Cincinnati Monarchs and Toronto Provincials left the fans buzzing.

Toronto Provincials starter Henry Clancy found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the Cincinnati Monarchs. Clancy, now 14-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 6, and allowing 3 runs.

Merritt Hunter dealt the Monarchs a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Toronto leading 3-2, Hunter, who finished 4th in the IA in slugging percentage with .396 in 1882, hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Clancy told the Toronto Bulletin.

With the win, Toronto raised its record to 46-36.
