The Detroit Sturgeons locked up a win at Riverside Park, knocking off the New York Barons, 6-3. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Martin Bird. He played a major role in the triumph. Bird, who finished 3rd in the FL in innings pitched with 571.0 in 1886, went the distance for Detroit. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. The Barons fall to 7-10 and continue their sputtering start to the 1888 season.
