Washington Helps Chicago Cruise to 10-1 Win
The Chicago Cyclones beat the Pittsburgh Vulcans, 10-1, at Vulcan Grounds. The Cyclones got a fine performance from second baseman Roman Washington, who went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 6. Jim Lucier got the win, improving to 5-2. He worked 9 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 5. The loss drops Pittsburgh to 8-9.

With Chicago leading 3-1 in the top of the seventh, Washington hit a fastball from Ed Wales for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Cyclones ahead, 5-1.

Pittsburgh manager called the blowout loss "ugly."
