 | Catchings Named IA Rookie of the Month Saturday, September 1st , 1883 The Rookie of the Month Award winner has been chosen and the International Association trophy went to Pittsburgh hurler, Dennis Catchings. For his fine performances in August he has been named the league's elite rookie. During the month in 14 starts, Catchings was impressive with a 2.20 ERA and 8 wins and 6 losses. In 126.2 innings he struck out 50 and gave up 124 hits and 11 walks. This season, Catchings has compiled a 33-19 mark with a 2.05 ERA in 53 starts. |   |
