Poole Shuts Out Washington
Wednesday, September 21st , 1887
Bill Poole shut down the Washington Federals, blanking them, 9-0, on 3 hits, ringing up 4 strikeouts and allowing no walks. The Detroit Sturgeons pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on.

"I don't know if I was getting any stronger," Poole said after the game. "I feel like my mechanics were getting better. I was able to make some adjustments and get a little more comfortable out there."
