| Behind Burns, Baltimore Blanks Chicago, 3-0 Wednesday, September 3rd , 1884 Ken Burns was in a mood to talk following the Baltimore Cannons contest against the Chicago Catamounts, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Catamounts, 3-0.
"There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Burns said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again."
The right-hander blanked Chicago on a 3-hitter, allowing no walks and racking up 7 strikeouts.
Burns has a 24-19 season record so far. In 43 starts, he has fanned 328 batters in 390 innings with a 1.62 ERA.
