 | Super Swinger -- Davey Slams 5 Hits Tuesday, August 18th , 1896 The 5th time is the charm -- at least for William Davey. The right fielder for the Buffalo Bluebirds hit the milestone against the Providence Patriots, helping his club to a narrow 6-5 victory. Davey finished with a 5-for-5 line at the plate. "Davey was a tough out," Providence manager Kevin Ord told the press in the postgame interview. "If it weren't for him, I think we had this one." William Davey singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
