Rebels Blank Tobacconists, Dilley Winner

"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Pat Dilley of the Richmond Rebels proved the point at Capitol Park, holding the Durham Tobacconists to 8 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Dilley made us look real bad today," Tobacconists manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Dilley had 7 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Rebels took the 2-0 win.

This year, Dilley has worked 275 innings with 203 strikeouts en route to a 16-12 record and a 2.03 ERA.
