| Duffee Hurls Atlanta to Shutout Victory Tuesday, September 20th , 1887 Jim Duffee kept the Durham Tobacconists hitters from doing much damage at Phoenix Grounds.
Durham could only muster 2 hits and draw 2 walks against the right-handed Duffee, who controlled them throughout the game. Atlanta won the contest, 2-0. Duffee added 9 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.
"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Duffee told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
This season, Duffee has compiled a 29-12 record with a 2.26 ERA in 44 starts. | | |
