| Dilley Guns Down Firebirds Wednesday, September 28th , 1887 Pat Dilley kept the Atlanta Firebirds hitters from doing much damage at Phoenix Grounds.
Atlanta could only muster 4 hits and draw 3 walks against the right-handed Dilley, who controlled them throughout the game. Richmond won the contest, 3-0. Dilley added 9 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.
"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Dilley told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
For the year, Dilley has a 17-15 record with a 1.95 ERA in 34 starts. | | |
