| Hickories Shut Out Firebirds, Foshee Winner Tuesday, August 21st , 1888 Hills Foshee hurled a fine game for the Nashville Hickories at Cumberland Grounds, holding the Atlanta Firebirds to 4 hits in a shutout win.
"When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Nashville manager said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
The right-hander had 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 4-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," Atlanta manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
This season, Foshee has fanned 176 in 263.2 innings and collected a 16-15 record with a 3.69 ERA. | | |
