 | Kelly Superb Against Birmingham Tuesday, September 4th , 1888 Patsy Kelly pitched a strong game at Bull Grounds, blanking the Birmingham Vulcans, 3-0. Kelly, who is tied for 9th in the SSL in strikeouts with 190, allowed no runs on 5 hits, totaled 3 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk. Durham manager said he could tell immediately it was going to be a good game for Kelly. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," said. "He threw a lot of strikes." So far this year, Kelly has made 35 starts, tossed 299 innings, struck out 190 batters and walked 83. His record is 16-19 with a 3.76 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .251 batting average. |   |
