| Detroit Upended by Cleveland, 7-4 | The Cleveland Blue Caps racked up a win at Lakeside Grounds, bumping off the Detroit Sturgeons, 7-4. Jack McKinley, who started for Cleveland, pitched effectively for his team. McKinley got the win, improving to 10-6. He gave up 7 hits and walked 0 over 9 innings. He allowed 4 runs. The Sturgeons fall to 6-12 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1883 season.
The Blue Caps got a big at-bat from right fielder Matt Lindsley. For the game, Lindsley was 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Cleveland a 2-1 lead.
