Philadelphia Shut Out by Kunkel
In a remarkable performance, Pittsburgh Vulcans starter Burton Kunkel beat the Philadelphia Blue Caps, 8-0, in an impressive 11-hit shutout.

"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."

The Vulcans hurler finished with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.

"It was a rough one for my guys," Philadelphia manager said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."

This year, Kunkel has worked 76.1 innings with 8 strikeouts en route to a 4-4 record and 1.89 ERA.
