The Philadelphia Unions were almost helpless in their 2-0 loss to the Chicago Cyclones and hurler Victor Anderson. Anderson kept the Unions confused all game, spinning a 6-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Anderson," Philadelphia manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 26-year-old right-hander had 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Anderson said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

For the season, Anderson has logged 6 wins and 5 losses and struck out 45 batters in 94.2 innings while compiling a 2.57 ERA.
