Prairie Dogs Beat Provincials, 2-1, at Garrison Common Grounds
Tom Child, who finished 4th in the IA in strikeouts with 268 in 1886, never let the Provincials get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Prairie Dogs to a win, 2-1. Child yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 12-17. The Prairie Dogs improved their record to 35-61 by beating Toronto.

Tommy Cate, who is on pace for 42 RBI this season, had a direct impact on the outcome. Cate contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Kansas City up, 2-1.
