| Johnston Excels in 22-4 Baltimore Win | Baltimore and Indianapolis got after it at State Fair Grounds.
The Baltimore Bannermen soundly defeated the Indianapolis Stars, 22-4, at State Fair Grounds, with left fielder Curt Johnston a major reason why. He went 4 for 6 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 4 times and drove in 5 for Baltimore. Bob Keyes got the win, improving to 23-11. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2.
Johnston went 4-6 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 4 times and drove in 5 against the Stars. In the top of the first inning, he hit a 2-run single that put Baltimore in front, 2-0.
"It's disappointing, but we have to move on," Indianapolis manager said: "You're going to have games like that."
By defeating Indianapolis, the first-place Bannermen improved to 59-28.
