Montreal took on Toronto in front of a lively crowd.

Montreal Tigers starter Joe Henry turned in an exceptional performance against the Toronto Provincials at St. Gabriel Grounds II, resulting in a Montreal win, 5-2. In 9 innings, Henry surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs.

Had Spider Burchett not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Burchett hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Tigers.

Henry told a Montreal Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

Now 9-3, the 1888 Tigers have been phenomenal so far.
