Hit Parade: Suston Pops 5 Hits
Galveston Gulls left fielder Jim Suston had a day to remember at Gulfview Field, ripping apart the Dallas Steers and sparking the 20-19 Gulls win.

Suston wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-9.

"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Suston told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."

Jim Suston flied out in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th, struck out in the 9th, flied out in the 12th and singled in the 14th.

So far in 1896 Suston is batting .423 with 1 home run, 10 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 33 hits in 78 at-bats and a .477 OBP.
