Had Mike Loughlin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Loughlin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Unions.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Loughlin, "one at-bat at a time."
