The Toronto Provincials picked up a win at Garrison Common Grounds, topping the Kansas City Prairie Dogs, 12-3. On the mound for Toronto was right-hander Fred Brody. He played a principal role in the triumph. Kansas City drops to 1-1.

An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when Provincials shortstop Doc McGuire hit a cutter from Tom Child for a 2-run single. Just like that, Toronto was up, 3-2.

"Fred was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Toronto manager .
