The Philadelphia Unions took on the New York Barons at Columbia Field.

Philadelphia turned a good effort from starter Thomas Goss into a win over the New York Barons at Columbia Field. The Unions won the game, 8-2. Goss, now 3-0, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 10, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs.

Jeff Scruggs had a big 2-run double for the Unions in the top of the second inning. With Philadelphia leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a changeup from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Ted Carson and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Unions ahead, 4-0.

"Nice to keep stacking the wins," said Scruggs.

The loss lowers the New York record to 1-5.
