Unions Grind Out 2-1 Win
Fans watched the Philadelphia Unions and the Chicago Cyclones fight to the finish.

The Philadelphia Unions used a great performance from Bancroft King, who finished 3rd in the FL in strikeouts with 314 in 1884, to beat the Chicago Cyclones, 2-1, at Girard Grounds II. The winning pitcher was King, now 9-11. He tossed 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4.

Alexander Faulk, who finished 5th in the FL in triples with 13 in 1886, helped out the Philadelphia cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the catcher drove in one run.

"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Faulk.

With the win, Philadelphia raised its record to 28-22.
