Cyclones Rack Up 9-1 Win Versus Detroit
The Detroit Sturgeons started the 1887 season not with a bang but with a whimper, falling, 9-1, to the Chicago Cyclones at Riverside Park. Starting Pitcher Jim Lucier, who is the 2nd-best prospect in the Cyclones organization, was the top performer for Chicago. Lucier, who is the 2nd-best prospect in the Cyclones organization, went the distance for Chicago. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits.

Conn Bolick had a big 2-run double for the Cyclones in the top of the sixth inning. With Chicago leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Bill Poole, who finished 5th in the FL in on-base percentage with .380 last year, and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cyclones ahead, 5-1.

"We maximized our offense today," said Chicago skipper . "That makes everyone's life easier."
