Colts Drop Blue Caps, 7-4
The Louisville Colts picked up a win at Derby Grounds, dropping the Cleveland Blue Caps, 7-4. Ed Wales, who is tied for 2nd in the FL in quality starts with 20, was the difference-maker. Wales, who finished 4th in the FL in innings pitched with 338.0 in 1878, went the distance for Louisville. He gave up 4 runs on 10 hits. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Colts.

The Colts benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the seventh. With Sam Day at bat and Louisville leading 5-4, the Cleveland miscue allowed Louisville to plate 1 and take the lead, 6-4.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Day told the Louisville Citizen. "It's as simple as that."
